While aircraft 40838 itself primarily served in a stateside training and readiness capacity during its later years, it embodied the combat-proven legacy of a type that had already demonstrated its effectiveness in one of the most challenging air wars of the twentieth century.

This 1:72 scale model captures the rugged Cold War presence of the Air National Guard while honoring the Phantom’s distinguished combat heritage, making it a compelling addition to any collection of classic U.S. Air Force jets.

mcdonnell-douglas-f-4g-phantom-ii-fighter-bomber-aircraft-wild-weasels-69-7253-561st-tfs-35th-tfw-george-afb-1991-united-states-air-force-air-power-series-1-72-diecast-model
McDonnell Douglas F-4G Phantom II Fighter-Bomber Aircraft "Wild Weasels 69-7253 561st TFS 35th TFW George AFB" (1991) United States Air Force "Air Power Series" 1/72 Diecast Model

Brand new 1/72 scale diecast model of McDonnell Douglas F-4G Phantom II Fighter-Bomber Aircraft "Wild Weasels, 69-7253, 561st TFS, 35th TFW, George AFB" (1991) United States Air Force "Air Power Series" die cast model by Hobby Master.

Brand new box.

Detailed exterior.

True-to-scale detail.

Includes pilot figure.

Has opening canopy.

Includes display stand.

Officially licensed product.

Detachable ordnance loads.

Has detachable landing gear.

Manufacturer's original unopened packaging.

Dimensions approximately Length- 10.5, Wingspan- 6.25 inches.

Diecast metal and plastic construction for durability and a heavy, realistic feel.

It is a highly detailed and accurate model, perfect for collectors and enthusiasts of military history.

Realistic panel lines, antennas, access panels, and surface details for an authentic representation of the real-life airplane.

HISTORY ASPECTS:
The F-4G Phantom II Wild Weasel, tail number 69-7253, served with the 561st Tactical Fighter Squadron, 35th Tactical Fighter Wing, based at George Air Force Base in California during 1991. Designed specifically for the dangerous role of Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses (SEAD), the F-4G was an extensively modified version of the F-4E. It replaced the gun with advanced electronic warfare equipment, including the APR-38 radar homing and warning system, enabling it to detect, identify, and target enemy surface-to-air missile (SAM) sites. As part of the 561st TFS, 69-7253 participated in the rigorous training cycles that prepared crews for combat operations in the Middle East, particularly the unfolding Gulf War.
Aircraft like 69-7253 were critical to Operation Desert Storm, where Wild Weasels flew ahead of strike packages to locate and destroy Iraqi radar and missile batteries. The 561st TFS deployed to the region, flying dangerous missions that required them to deliberately draw enemy radar fire to expose targets. F-4G crews often worked in hunter-killer teams with F-16C fighters, with the Phantom designating and suppressing threats while the F-16 delivered precision ordnance. The bravery of Wild Weasel crews, including those flying 69-7253, helped pave the way for coalition air dominance, ensuring strike aircraft could operate with reduced risk from Saddam Hussein’s integrated air defense network.
Beyond Desert Storm, the F-4G Wild Weasels continued to serve into the early 1990s, participating in post-war enforcement of no-fly zones over Iraq and contributing to NATO operations in Europe. Aircraft such as 69-7253 stood as symbols of the transition period between the Vietnam-era F-4 and the newer F-16CJ Wild Weasel. Their service at George AFB in 1991 marked one of the last chapters in the Phantom’s storied combat career, as the base itself closed shortly thereafter and the Wild Weasel mission moved on to newer platforms.
This 1:72 scale model captures the distinctive look and mission of one of the most legendary SEAD aircraft ever built. Assigned to McChord Air Force Base in Washington, 76-0111 was selected for the Anti-Satellite (ASAT) program in the mid-1980s, a top-secret initiative aimed at demonstrating the United States' capability to intercept and destroy enemy satellites during the Cold War. Equipped with the ASM-135 ASAT missile, the F-15A was specially modified to carry out this mission, including upgrades to its targeting systems and structural enhancements for high-altitude flight.
On September 13, 1985, Major Wilbert “Doug” Pearson piloted 76-0111 to over 38,000 feet above the Pacific Ocean near Vandenberg Air Force Base. At a steep 65-degree climb and traveling at Mach 1.22, he launched the ASM-135 missile, which successfully intercepted and destroyed the decommissioned Solwind P78-1 satellite orbiting over 300 miles above Earth. This event marked the first and only time a fighter aircraft achieved a kinetic kill against a satellite, demonstrating a powerful and controversial capability in space warfare. The test sent a strong strategic message during the Cold War and raised international concerns about the militarization of space.
Although the ASAT program was eventually shelved due to arms control concerns and diplomatic pressure, the legacy of 76-0111 and its historic mission endures. The aircraft continued to serve with the 318th FIS in a more traditional air defense role before eventually being retired. With a combination of thrust-to-weight ratio, advanced radar, and maneuverability, the Eagle set a new benchmark for aerial combat, achieving a perfect combat record for decades.
