- The C4 is the first generation of Audi's sporty luxury sedan, the S4. It was marketed from 1991 to 1994. The Audi S4 is based on the body of the 100 C4. The front end is redesigned to appear sportier. The fenders are slightly wider than on the 100. Of course, the main difference is under the hood. The “base” version has a 220hp, 5-cylinder 2.2 turbo engine. For its final year in the brand's catalog, the S4 gets a big V8 developing 230hp. In all, more than 10,000 Audi S4 C4s were produced in just over three years. Audi's sporting turn in the 90s continues to seduce.
