The Grumman F-14D Tomcat represented the most advanced version of the legendary carrier-based fighter that served the U.S. Navy for more than three decades. One of the Navy’s oldest and most distinguished fighter squadrons, VF-31 “Tomcatters,” operated the F-14D during the early 2000s. In 2003 the squadron deployed aboard the aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis as part of Carrier Air Wing 14.
