- The Northrop Grumman B-2A “Spirit of Arizona” is one of the U.S. Air Force’s stealth strategic bombers assigned to the 509th Bomb Wing at Whiteman Air Force Base. As part of the small and highly specialized B-2 fleet, the aircraft embodies the revolutionary flying-wing design intended to penetrate advanced air defenses undetected. Constructed with radar-absorbing materials and shaped to minimize its radar signature, the B-2A was designed during the Cold War to deliver both conventional and nuclear payloads deep into heavily defended territory.
